ISO 27701 Lead Implementer Training

The ISO/IEC 27701:2019 standard is the privacy extension of ISO/IEC 27001. It defines the requirements and guidelines for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving a Privacy Information Management System (PIMS). It constitutes the operational bridge between information security management and compliance with personal data protection regulations, including the EU GDPR and Tunisian law on personal data protection.

The ISO/IEC 27701 Lead Implementer certification (PECB) validates your ability to design and lead a complete PIMS within your organisation, as a Data Protection Officer (DPO), privacy compliance manager or specialist consultant.

Why is ISO/IEC 27701 strategically important for Tunisian organisations?

Personal data protection is no longer reserved for European companies. Tunisian organisations are exposed to these challenges through several converging angles:

Tunisian regulation: The organic law n°2004-63 is being revised to align with international standards (GDPR). The National Authority for Personal Data Protection (INPDP) is strengthening its controls and sanctioning capabilities.

Day 1 — Regulatory Context and ISO/IEC 27701 Fundamentals

• Global data protection regulations: GDPR, CCPA, Tunisian law n°2004-63 and its revision
• Role and missions of the INPDP in Tunisia
• ISO/IEC 27701 positioning within the ISO/IEC 27000 family
• Standard structure: extension of ISO 27001 and ISO 27002 clauses for privacy
• Key concepts: personal data, sensitive data, controller, processor, data subject
• Data protection principles: lawfulness, fairness, transparency, minimisation, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity and confidentiality
• Mapping ISO/IEC 27701, ISO/IEC 27001 and GDPR requirements

Day 2 — PIMS Planning and Design

• Organisational context: interested parties, PIMS scope, internal and external issues
• Privacy leadership: DPO role, management commitment, data protection policy
• Identification and mapping of personal data processing activities
• Records of Processing Activities (RoPA): structure, content, maintenance
• Privacy risk analysis: method, evaluation criteria, articulation with ISO 27005
• Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA): when to conduct, how to carry out
• Legal bases for processing: consent, legitimate interest, contractual necessity, legal obligation

Day 3 — Implementing Data Protection Controls

• Controls specific to the role of data controller (ISO 27701 Annex B)
• Controls specific to the role of data processor (ISO 27701 Annex C)
• Managing data subject rights: right of access, rectification, erasure, objection, portability, restriction
• Personal data breach notification procedure
• Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default
• Processor contracts: standard contractual clauses, Data Processing Agreement (DPA)
• International data transfers: legal mechanisms, BCRs, standard contractual clauses

Day 4 — Operations, Monitoring and Improvement

• Staff awareness and training on data protection
• Internal and external privacy communication
• PIMS performance monitoring: privacy KPIs
• PIMS internal audit: programme, conduct, report
• Personal data incident management
• Management review: agenda, deliverables, decisions
• PIMS continuous improvement
